Three-Day Training For Providing Free Legal Aid Started

Centre for Monitoring and Research organized training for NGOs that are members of Legal Aid Network. Training is being held from 25th to 28th June in Zabljak.

The training aims to introduce Network members to new skills in the healthcare protection of patients. In this way, citizens of Montenegro/patients, especially those who belong to marginalized groups, will receive stronger support in using their rights, while the capacities of Network members in providing free legal aid will be significantly improved. Trainers are representatives of partner civil society organization from Serbia – YUCOM, one of leading organizations for providing legal aid in the region. Instructors will introduce international standards in providing free legal aid, as well as practice of the European Court for Human Rights and its implementation on domestic justice system. Workshops where representatives of Network members will be able to present their experiences and implement new knowledge through case studies, will be organized within the training.

The training is organized within the project “Healthcare System and Patients’ Rights in Montenegro – Winning citizens’ confidence”. The project is funded by the European Union by means of Delegation of the European Union to Montenegro, through European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) and Support Program for Montenegro (CBSS). This project is realized by CeMI in cooperation with Association of Youth with Disabilities of Montenegro (UMHCG), Centre for Consumers’ Protection (CEZAP), Centre for Investigative Journalism (CIN) and Lawyers’ Committee for Human Rights (YUCOM). The project aims to contribute to reaching EU Standards in Montenegro in the field of protection of human rights as patients and to contribute to equal access to all healthcare services and justice for all citizens, especially to members of marginalized groups.
