Within the project “Strengthening the capacity of the office of the Protector of Human Rights and Freedoms”, supported by the EU, a two-day workshop on “Establishing an effective mechanism to prevent torture in Montenegro” was held for representatives of the Ombudsman’s office.
The speakers were experts from Association for the Prevention of Torture (APT) from Geneva, Ms Audrey Olivier and Ms Tanya Norton. The aim of the workshop was to educate members of the office of the Protector of Human Rights and Freedoms on the National Prevention Mechanism (NPM), in order to adequately prepare for this role, that will soon be placed under the jurisdiction of the new Law on the Protector of Human Rights and Freedoms.
